Gabriel de la Mora: mother of pearl, abalone and hair.

Propose a project

In Udaipur, craftspeople cut mother of pearl and abalone into small tiles and set them one by one on a drawn grid. With Gabriel de la Mora we produced works in both materials there; they were shown at Zona Maco, Mexico City. One of them, 11,393 Ha. Ir. (2025), is made of 11,393 fragments of New Zealand abalone shell (Haliotis iris) on wood.

We also produced his hanging works in human hair, 90 × 60 cm: woven by hand, then washed and brushed on the workshop floor. They were shown at Museo Jumex, Mexico City, in La Petite Mort (September 2025 – February 2026).
