Tejido Líquido: twelve metres of silk, by hand.

Propose a project

Silk was always the goal. From 2018 we wrote to, called and visited more than twenty-five groups of artisans, looking for someone able to embroider silk at the scale we had in mind. In 2022 we found the workshop of Bahodir and his daughter Aisha in Uzbekistan, who weave their own cloth and raise their own silkworms.

For Carlos Amorales we produced Tejido Líquido: a suzani of 1.80 × 12 m, embroidered in bigiz saima, the hook stitch of the Fergana Valley, with hand-dyed silk on silk-and-cotton cloth woven by the workshop. The black is built up from successive indigo baths. In the collections and sources we consulted, we have not found a suzani of comparable size.
